Yeah Reinsdorf played that game and annihilated the city of Chicago. When he was proposing to build US Comiskular Rate Field, (he's sold the naming rights so many times for a pittance of money,) he put in the contract that if he didn't receive a certain amount he would move the team.
Welllll the extremely lucrative contract is up. I've heard it was the most lucrative stadium deal in sports history. Not sure if it's true. He's threatening to move to Nashville. I can't really say I care anymore. I hate his guts. He's old enough that he could die any day and still he rips off the fans and the city. Even if he died and the team was bought by someone, that guy is probably just as big a dbag as him.
At this rate I hope they players just start their own league and ditch these jerks who don't even like baseball. These are just investments to them and they will only invest enough to keep you attending. To quote what someone said Reinsdorf told them, "Only invest enough to get second place. That's the perfect spot to be. People will always pay to watch and you don't have to spend any money."
I suffered through last night's Toronto Blue Jays loss to Chicago last night. White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet had a perfect game going into the 5th inning as I recall ( no hits, no walks ). One game does not a season make. But it was literally my first game at the newly renovated Skydome ( no one local calls it Cable Co. ) and, gimme a break, it was a game the Jays could've ( should've?) won. Great report. We have our own ownership issues up here. Removing seats. Increasing prices. Sh*t show. Play ball.
Yeah. I just go to Chicago Dogs games now. I'm tired of shelling out $80 bucks to watch a subpar baseball game. At least in minor leagues prices are normal and everyone has fun. I'm never going back to a pro game. The fun to price ratio is absurd.
